What should I wear to my appointment?

The most important part of your consultation is that you are comfortable, so although you do not need to wear anything specific, loose, comfortable clothing is usually recommended.

Will I need to undress?

As your practitioner will need to assess your painful area, you may be required to disrobe but we do keep this to a minimum and will always offer you towels to keep you comfortable.

How much is an appointment?

All our appointments are $90

Do you accept Private Health Funds?

We certainly do and we also have a HICAPS facility so you will only have to pay for the gap after your appointment. Unfortunately we do not know how much you will get from your health fund as there are so many funds and levels of cover, so it would be best to check your fund prior to attending your appointment.

Do you accept Transport Accident, Workcover or DVA referrals?

We certainly do and in most circumstances, you will only be out of pocket a small gap or none at all.

Do you accept Care Plans from my GP?

We do, you will just need to bring your EPC form given to you from your GP or nurse to your appointment.

With your rebate from Medicare, you will only be out of pocket $37 for your treatment.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to make an appointment?

You do not need a referral to make a booking at The Whole Body Clinic unless you are covered by Transport Accident, Worksafe or DVA as we need approval from your third party and GP.

What is the difference between Osteopathy, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic?

All three modes of manual therapy require registration with AHPRA, Osteopathy and Chiropractic require 5 years of study and Physiotherapy is 4 years and we all continue our professional development with courses that will increase the cross over with techniques.

What can I expect in a consultation?

The initial consultation will include a detailed history of the current problem as well as a thorough medical history to ensure your Osteo, Chiro or Physio have the full picture. We will then examine you to determine the cause of your pain/dysfunction. This would include postural and movement assessments, special and orthopaedic tests, as well as palpation of soft tissues and other structures. We will then discuss the treatment plan and move onto the treatment.

What is the Crack?

With a technique called HVLA (high velocity low amplitude) thrust technique, you will notice a small popping noise, or more commonly know as a ‘crack’ occur after the performance of the technique.

This noise is called by a gas bubble being formed due to changes in volume in the joint and allows for decreased pain, increase in movement and muscle relaxation.

HVLA thrust techniques are just one technique of many that can be used in your consultation so if you wish to avoid this technique, just let your practitioner know and they will use others tools in their kit.

Will I get exercises as part of my treatment plan?

At the end of every consultation, you will receive some homework to do. These exercises will be specific to your condition and all aimed at making sure that you get better and need less treatment in the future.
